About The Author

Tamara Bayazitov

Tamara Bayazitov holds a Master of Arts in Teaching from Grand Canyon University and spent many years as a high school educator before turning to writing. Inspired by her friend Warren Helsley, who encouraged her to share her family’s experiences during the BAM project in Siberia, she began drafting her memoirs in 2005.

Her childhood shaped much of her voice as a writer. Losing her father in wartime and being raised by a hardworking but uneducated mother taught her resilience and self-reliance. Tamara’s work is marked by honesty, reflection, and persistence. She acknowledges her struggles and the many revisions it took to bring her story to life, yet she believes every challenge holds an opportunity.

More about The Author

Tamara Bayazitov, originally from Almaty, Kazakhstan, believes that confidence, trust, and resilience are essential to life, though trust must be extended with caution. She acknowledges that betrayal can occur, but she views even disappointment as part of the human journey. Her worldview is shaped by growth through challenges and the recognition that each day brings new trials and new solutions.

A significant turning point came after immigrating to America. Determined to move forward, Tamara studied English between 1993 and 1995 to validate her degree from Kazakhstan. By 1998, her persistence led to an invitation to pursue a Master of Arts in Teaching at Grand Canyon University, fulfilling a dream she had carried since 1965. Completing the program not only advanced her career and retirement but also gave her a renewed sense of personal worth and achievement.

Tamara moved to California at the age of 50, where she and her husband began building a Victorian-style home in Shelter Cove. It was there, in 2006, that Warren Helsley’s family encouraged her to begin writing.
